Vance Barse and James Fisher on Finding the Right Fit for Acquisitions

Vance Barse, wealth strategist and founder, Your Dedicated Fiduciary, and James Fisher, vice president of mergers and acquisitions, FP Transitions, explore how to find 'the right fit' when it comes to acquisitions.

Matt Ackermann, chief content officer, Integrated Partners, is joined by Vance Barse, wealth strategist and founder, Your Dedicated Fiduciary, and James Fisher, vice president of mergers and acquisitions, FP Transitions, to discuss whether there are buyers out there for great firms, how important finding "the right fit" is and how workplace culture plays a pivotal role in successful acquisitions.

For nearly a decade, Barse served as an investment consultant to leading private wealth teams nationwide at family offices, wirehouses and registered investment advisors. Barse saw firsthand that many advisors are often limited in their approach to advanced planning, often leaving clients underserved. Barse founded Your Dedicated Fiduciary with a simple mission: to be authentic, transparent and have a positive impact on the lives of clients. The firm serves roughly 50 families with a full range of investment management, wealth preservation, estate planning and tax minimization strategies that many advisors overlook.

Fisher was a financial enforcement officer for the State of Oregon’s Division of Finance and Corporate Securities (now the Division of Financial Regulation), where he was tasked with, among other things, enforcing Oregon’s statutes and administrative rules relating to securities and commodities. Prior to joining FP Transitions, Fisher was an attorney at a midsize law firm, primarily litigating cases involving airplane and helicopter crashes nationwide. After a chance seat assignment next to FP Transitions President David Grau Sr. on a flight from Minneapolis, Fisher decided to trade in the courtroom for greater adventures assisting FPT’s clients. As head of the Transactions team, his experience navigating complex legal issues and as a securities regulator allows him to quickly understand and resolve any client concerns and challenges that may arise.
