Broadridge Enters Robo Advisor Market

Broadridge partners with Wealthsimple on a robo in Canada, Brinker creates an RIA division and Silver Lane hires Jim Collins as general counsel.

Broadridge Financial Solutions has partnered with Canadian-based Wealthsimple to bring a robo advisor tool to the firm’s clients. Broadridge will integrate its system with Wealthsimple’s platform, providing clients access to automated investment management, mobile access and lower-cost investment options. The roll-out will start in Canada.

Brinker Capital Launches Division for RIAs

Brinker Capital, a 30-year-old registered investment advisor with $20.9 billion in assets under management, launched a new division focused on servicing other RIAs. The new Brinker Capital RIA Services is a digital support business for growing investment firms in helping them achieve scale, the company said in a statement on Tuesday. In addition to guided or open architecture technology, client and advisor portals and multi-custodial flexibility, users have access to fund strategist programs, personalize unified managed accounts through a curated list of investment managers and customize portfolios.

Silver Lane Advisors Hires New General Counsel

Silver Lane Advisors, an investment bank that specializes in the financial services industry, announced Tuesday that it hired Jim Collins to be the firm’s new General Counsel and Head of Operations. Collins was most recently a partner in the New York office of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, and his practice focused on representation of public and private asset and wealth management firms and hedge funds in mergers and acquisitions. He also has experience working on stock and asset sales, equity and debt financings, securities offerings and other general corporate matters. Elizabeth Nesvold, the founder and managing partner of Silver Lane Advisors, said Collins is “a true subject matter expert in asset and wealth management M&A.”
