Tom Rampulla, head of the Financial Advisor Services division at Vanguard, will retire after a 35-year career at the fund giant. Vanguard has named Amma Boateng, who currently leads the broker/dealer channel within that division, as his replacement. The change takes effect Jan. 1.
Boateng will be responsible for business unit strategy as well as business development, relationship management and daily operations.
Rampulla joined Vanguard in 1988, and since then, he’s held a variety of roles at the company, including managing Vanguard’s European business, distribution of the firm’s ETFs and mutual funds through advisor partners, and portfolio management in the fixed income group’s stable value management division.
Under his leadership, he’s grown Financial Advisor Services to more than $3 trillion in assets. The firm now serves more than 150,000 advisors.

Boateng started with Vanguard in 2004 as a financial administrator, and she has led the broker/dealer channel, which includes wirehouse, independent and regional broker/dealers, since 2020. Prior to that, she led the firm’s Advisor Solutions function, which delivers capabilities and resources to advisor clients, including technology, portfolio solutions and thought leadership.
