Do you suppose that the reason the NASD administers Series 7 is an attempt to get rookies to understand the business, investing, client relationships and so forth?
Or do you suppose they administer it as a game to see if you can scam the system by guessing the answers without bothering to learn the material?
The pride in Series 7 is demonstrating how much you know by scoring high.
Impress your boss, impress your friends, impress yourself.
How much self pride is demonstrated by barely getting by?
