Tragedies

It is a sensitive subject (understandably) because we are talking about human life here. I’d like to find out if there is any fresh information about the alleged suicides of brokers in recent months. Any new cases? Some previous cases were reported in the media. As I recall, there seemed a clear link between the difficult market conditions and work pressure and these assumed suicides. Also, have firms’ made any comments and taken steps on these cases – and how are families and clients of the deceased coping?
I just killed myself not 20 minutes ago.
On a more serious note, glad to see the market pumping its way back toward even for the day though! One of the former wirehouses in my area held mandatory meetings recently for their advisors to discuss feelings and give them the hotline phone number.
Thanks for the information. I've just joined this forum, so I'd like to send you a private reply, snaggletooth. Let me see how that works.
Broker at EJ just got fired for having sex in his office. … That seems like a better way to end your career.
Wow! What a way to go. How do you get caught having sex in your office? I wonder if it was with his wife, boa, or a client. No matter, that is still hilarious.
That was a shade above the guy that was soliciting prostitutes on his work computer. Sort of social darwinism, I suppose.Broker at EJ just got fired for having sex in his office. … That seems like a better way to end your career.
Friend of mine from high school who was in the biz. Overextended, two divorces with alimony and child support, three mortgages on Florida properties that were underwater, assets way down.
Ah, we go from talking about suicide to sex in the office! Hmm? Wonder what Dr. Phil would say about that?
But seriously, speaking of sex in the office - every office i've been in this takes place. Why fire the guy? What's the big deal? Oh, The EJ reg manager's wife! Ok, now i get it.At least one firm held mandatory meetings related to suspected cases of suicide? Any other firms doing this? Should HR get involved? Look, this is a difficult economy; clients are not happy and FAs are not happy.
