Hi,

I'm just wondering if I get sponsored for my Series 7 by a firm in TX, and then takes it within the state of TX, and would it transfer over if I go to work at another state ? or do I need to take it again with a new firm at a different state.   I always assumed it did tranfer over.  But, I was informed otherwise at a interview.  Which it is still very hard to believe since the exam will be the same etc etc.  Also, is there a time requirement involved in being employed by a firm before you transfer to a new state, new firm for the 7 to transfer over.   Thanks for any help.

The 7 is issued by federal regulatory agencies, not state.  It shouldn’t matter.

Yeah, but your registration with FINRA is not transferable.  You must withdraw and re-apply with the new firm.
