If you have STC--and you do--stick with it.  Should you fail, and something like 70% of those who will take it for the first ime on Monday will fail, you can use Pass Perfect for your second run at it.

My company fires you if you don’t pass on the first try!!! I was given both the Dearborn book (I hate it) and the STC manual (much better) but should I get Pass Perfect?

I took the 7 a month ago and I used the Pass Perfect material including the cd. I studied for 7 weeks. I read the books once and then concentrated on the practice test. I got an 80%. The pratcice test were actually more difficult than the actual exam. If you read the material and then take all of the practice exams and acore at least 70% you should be fine.

I agree 100% with tmorris93.  Stick with the Pass Perfect books.  Get a 75 on your practice exams and you will pass.  good luck

So I passed the 66 last week.  Taking the 7 the Tuesday before, back to back sucks big time.  I would recommend what everyone else does...use the best books you can buy (you don't want to take these tests again) I used Pass Perfect and although it was different from the real test, it was close enough to learn it enough to pass.  The 66 was trickier in that the pass perfect questions were really different from the real test...the Dearborn's were more closely worded, but like I said earlier the 12 edition has a lot of errors that could screw you up.

All in all, taking practice tests are the best way to get yourself ready...just be relentless....nothing pays off like hard work.

Reinmaker- - -you are right.  You don't want to ever take those tests twice.  At the end of the day, it all comes down to you and HARD work.  Before and after the tests.  There are no shortcuts.

Reinmaker, why did you take the 66 first.  We take the 7 first.  Just curious.

OK so i’m taking the test (Series 7) on the 1st of Sept.  Any advice for the next 2-3 weeks of studying?  I know go over the finals a good amount, but anything else that might be useful?

Maybeeeeee,

You have to take the 7 before the 66...I took the 7 the tuesday before the 66.  Sorry if I was unclear about that.  But, basically it was like 6-7 weeks of studying for the 7 and then 1 week for the 66.  Total nightmare.  But it's all over and I don't have to worry about it... now i'm excited about what lies ahead!

Beach... Other than finals studying, good nights of sleep are important... if you are tired while taking all those finals during the day, it won't be as advantageous.  Even though the 7 is getting close and things are kicking into high gear, eating right and good rest is crucial to studying with the right mindframe and you'll learn more because you are more focused...just like you will be on the real test.

Rainmaker, I agree.  The studying stunk.  I took both in 8 weeks.  And I have an MBA in Finance!!!!!  But, it is done.  The older geisers here got at least 12 weeks when they were studying for the 7.  My firm, RJ, is trying to get the best of the best, so they are shortening the study time.  And you do get fired here if you don't pass.

Beach.  DO THE PRACTICE EXAMS.  KNOW OPTIONS.  STUDY THE QUESTIONS YOU GET WRONG.  PRAY.

GOOD LUCK

Reinmaker,

You're right about the Dearborn material mistakes. I've found so many now I've started collecting screen prints to send to Dearborn. I've called and spoken with them but they have a real "so what" attitude about the errors. I'm taking the 66 on Sept. 1st and hope I chose the right material to study. Gosh I hate testing. I swear after this I'm done, no 4, 9 or 27 for me!

I was really burnt out after testing too.  That was mid June.  I am now refreshed and I'll pick up those life and health books.

Looking back it was not really that bad.
