after trying to figure what exactly what the EJ “kool-aid” is that you all refer to, i think i may have had my first opportunity to try it recently, be it a very small sip.

i went on my first prospecting mission a few days ago. definitely not my style, but i made the most of it and actually met a lot of great people. i’ve been told though, that when asking for the prospect’s phone number, to continue to look down while writing and you’ll have a better chance of them giving it to you. this makes no sense to me. i made eye contact, was genuine, and did just fine. does anyone know the rational behind this technique?

not a clue. it’s like you’re ashamed to ask for somebody’s number.

How do you know they were great people? Did they tell you?

indeed.
if someone came to my door asking for my number, i’d obviously be more suspect if they asked their notepad instead of me…

It is easier to get a number if you just continue the conversation while writing looking down.  Just flow with it and they’ll usually flow with the number.
