how badly will possesion of marijuana under 20 grams effect emplyment at smith barney?

Probably pretty badly. Branch management at the wirehouses is pretty conservative (even out here where its basically legal).

I wouldn't even bother if it happened recently. Maybe a college indiscretion or something - but if its happened in the last 10 years, I would plan on setting my sights a bit lower at first.

I know this sounds brutal, but the top firms are now VERY selective.

Then they would want you as client.

You had better hope it was during your college or high school days; otherwise give yourself 10 years to make a correction.

Good Luck

im in south florida [palm beach]

the only reason i have this interview/aptitude test, is that while waiting tables, the vice president of wealth management took a liking to me, and put me through to the branch manager as someone he felt 'had the right stuff'

ive traded foriegn exchange, and have a series three, and imagine i should do well on the aptitude test.

like i said, its minor poession, and it actually stemmed from giving a co-worker a ride home, where i got pulled over, and he wouldnt admit to it.

id hate for that to, you know, ruin my life. thanks for the input.

It wasn't YOURS? You should've mentioned that. If it was someone else's, just tell them that.

Did the cops do a DNA saliva test on the roaches in the ashtray? If so, and your DNA wasn't present, then you should not have been convicted in the first place.

What about all the coke heads on Wall Street?  It would be an interesting thing if all the wirehouses started doing mandatory drug testing eh?

RecentLEH retesting on lower volume.  Flip a coin or wait for acceleration of V or just keep holding.

Cocaine is for closers!

More seriously, chronic drug use (other than abusing things like Xanax etc) is quite rare since it kills your performance.
