For those who first started out as telemarketing stockbroker trainees, are leads just handed to you by a senoir broker and then call on them all day?  Or are you expected to source your own leads? (i.e. D&B)

if you want to stay a trainee, let the senior broker give you leads. If you want to be a regular broker, source your own leads. You can find leads anywhere, without paying for them: local newspaper, homeowners in certain neighborhoods, business owners, etc. After a few weeks, you’ve built a leads list that otherwise would have cost you several hundred dollars and probably consisted of old data.

Take the initiative now and work for yourself sooner.
