Hello,

I am new to the forum. I just recently was awarded my first internship for Private Wealth Management. I am leaving one industry to enter the Financial Services industry, and PWM is where I'd like my career to be; ultimately in ultra-high-net-worth clients in the future.

As I enter the internship, I was wondering if any veterans had advice on what I should focus on the most. The boutique I'll be working for offers estate tax, retirement, portfolio management, risk management and small business planning. Is there any I should focus on more than others? I was advised by a relative who works in securities that estate tax is where the high-end money is.

Does anyone know what certifications I should aim for, such as the CPWA or CFP?

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer - the information is greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Steve H
