I work at Wachovia and have spoken informally about joining Stifel Nicolaus.  I really like Wachovia but their payout for newer FAs sucks.  What’s great about Wachovia is the research and technology.

  Can anyone tell me about Stifel's research and technology.

In a recent article, the CEO, said he would gladly take any producer at the $300K level… Seems to be a rather private regional, not a lot of info out there… Though all I hear is good things about them… I have some exisiting clients that refuse to leave…

As a consumer of their research, I would say it’s A+.  Not sure what you would get as an FA there.

You might want to wait a little while.  Stifel is still sorting out their problems with auction rate securities.
