I realize that it may be slow and perhaps everyone is thinking about a break. But what is with the following :

  1) Have not yet completed my training ....... don't like the job ( you are a trainee ) and I want to leave and go home. Oh by the way , do I have to pay back the monies spent on training?   2) Just finished my training .... I hate this prospecting stuff ( you just started to work ) do I have to repay the monies spent on my training? Can I transfer to another Firm ( I won't have to do that prospecting stuff ) and will they come after me for my training?   3) Have completed my training...did not realize I have to sell something ( you were hired to sell ) can I leave and not repay the monies spent on training? I am now considering being an Analyst or perhaps a Rocket Scientist? Is that related to the Industry.   4) I have been working for just over a year and I am doing really well , hitting all my targets but the right people just don't seem to be available ( you just finished your first year ). I am bored and need a change so I thought perhaps I would move to  ( fill in the blank for the city ....they need to have lots of money and want me to advise them on how to invest ). Do you think I can phone up Head Office ( tell them I'm bored and I need to be relocated to my Dream Office and City )? After all with my track record, I am sure they will be more than happy to do this one simple thing for me?   Finally ,I am 22 , 23 or maybe 24 and I really do have a strong work ethic and I just know that I will be a success!!!    Okay I know , I just checked and it really is the Crazy Season.

Miss J…my point exactly. Acid Trip , you and I must be dating ourselves??? I know it must be the generational thing.  I REALLY have to stick it out and REALLY have to work???

Dating as meaning our age/generation ie Acid Trip.  I am sure Miss Jones is dating a very nice man , unfortunately being happily married and with grandchildren…my wife advises me I am not in the market.

I don't think it's a generation thing...I think it's a maturity thing.   Sales is a tough job. In my few years in the car business I can not count the number of people of all ages I've seen come and go. Just about everyone of them thought it would be easy. In car sales you might as well be self employed. If you don't go talk to customers no one is going to get on to you. You're not going to get fired you'll just starve to death while complaining it's too hard, there aren't enough customers, not enough advertising, customers are too picky, the customer is trying to over buy...whatever. The point is they don't understand that the beauty of sales is you get out of it what you put in it. It's not a dead in job with a cost of living raise at the end of each year, or a job you can get by slacking on. If you use your training, work hard, and put in the hours you can make more than just about anyone else around.   I'm not an FA, but I'm assuming that alot of what I'm saying is universal for sales.   I'm 25 and I understand that. I understood it when I was 22 and 12. Hopefully I'm about to move over to your line of work. I started researching the ends and outs of this business months ago. My move is one that I hope is well planned after tweaking that plan thanks to the advise of many on this forum. I can assure you I won't bail after my training or quit because it's too hard because I've planned to make this move and I've got a wife and two kids to support.

River King - How is your due dilligence going?  Are you planning a career move later this year or next year?  Looking at any firms?  Got any offers?

I've got my final face to face with EDJ next week. The process got delayed a week and a half because of a complaince issue. That actually worked in my favor though, because it gave me another paycheck at my current job. Since my first thread a couple of months ago I've trimmed my 401k from 12% to 4% (enough to still get my full company match) and I'm putting the rest in my money market. I've cut my mortgage payments back to the min pmt. By the time I make the switch I hope to have $5-6,000 in the bank. My wife decided she wants to take a year off from school and be a doula. (She will be a certified one next month.) There is currently not one in my community and only a handful in our state. This is going to give us enough income to pay for our monthly living expences on my base pay at EDJ and part of her earnings, with some liquid assets in the bank should a problem arise.

What is a doula?

Where is spiked Kool-aid on this one? I figured you would chime in on Norway’s posting. Obviously, the kool-aid is flowing in his region.

Norway,   You obviously know what you want and I am glad that you have found it. Why did it take you so long to come over? I on the other hand have no idea but I did just get married, so I have that going for me. FYI- Doug H was at a recent Regional even of ours. He is pretty nice, however, I would be too if I were uber-rich.

A doula is a non-medical assistant who provides various forms of non-medical support (physical, emotional and informed choice) in the childbirth process.
