How old were you when you entered the business?  I am 42 and currently in the mortgage business the last 7 years and considering a career change.  Just not sure if I am too old for the rat race.  I feel my sales ability is there, being a former #1 loan officer; however, we all know what happened to the mortgage industrty the last 3 years.   Anyway, was hoping some of you could share how old you were when you started and what your 1st year AUM were, 3rd year AUM, 5 yr AUm and current.  basically a short synopsis/story of your success.

You would not be the oldest person that I have personally seen enter this business.  If you have the drive that's all that matters.  You're age could actually be an assett.  The "gray hair factor" gives people confidence that you've been around the block and know what you're doing (even if you don't).

I say go for it.

I too am starting off in my 40s; but it helps I am in the physical shape of a 25 year old and am still drop dead good looking (at least that is what my mirror tells me every morning lol).

I will be in the same boat you are... maybe we can go door knocking sometimes with our 'walkers' and show those young whipper snappers how it's done.

Seriously though..... you are never too old to suceed in whatever you set your mind to doing.  Go for it Gramps

I know plenty of people who started about your age.. and are million dollar producers.

For people who  built up many connections in a "previous life", this field is often best as a second career.

I howerver have been doing this since I was 26.  My mentor started at 39, and is far more successful than I.
