I've made a previous post asking how to do it, but I think I have it almost figured out. Lately, my focus has been on the 4th quarter of the game, or 5pm - dark. Between those hours, I'm getting anywhere from 10-20 phone numbers. Just as an example, I went out this Sunday at 5pm and door knocked until 6:56pm. Little less than 2 hours, I got 17 phone numbers AND 13 semi-quality contacts of people that I had decent conversation with, but didn't want to give up their phone number. This was achievable by knocking on only 57 doors.   That same day in the morning, from 9am - 2pm, I got 5 contacts. Yeah....not good. That's 1 contact per hour and burned through 100+ houses.   So I'm this is my new plan from now on with my focus on the 4th quarter, or 5pm - dark. Go business door knocking in the day to have that safety buffer in case I don't make the numbers in the evening.

You should have just gone to church from 9-2pm and stood outside the door.  I’m pretty sure thats where your folks were during those hours.  You’ll have better luck knocking from 6-9pm on Super Bowl Sunday than you will in some areas knocking during church hours.

9am-2pm, I think any day any where will be about the same. You’ll run into a few retired folks who are mostly very suspicious and/or lonely. Seniors go to 6 or 7 am services, not 10am service. So you’ll be dealing with about the same prospects.

  Time to go door-knocking!

Norcal, that was the same experience I had. Problem was it took me a long time to figure it out. I probably got 75% of my contacts on Saturday and weekdays from 4:30-7. I wish I had spent the daytime every day seeing business owners or something else productive. I just didn’t “get it” yet.

i don’t understand why you don’t spend as much time as possible knocking on businesses during the day.  they are the target market you want, are in 1 captive location, and will not turn down giving you a business card, and guess what, it usually has a phone number on it.  you need to network with them asap anyway.  doorknocking everywhere is fine, but target specific locations immediately, no use waiting.  the only potential drawback to evening doorknocking is that the follow up is usually going to be at night, as is the appointment if you get one.
