Within the next couple of months I will explore opportunities with banks in Michigan. I would appreciate recommendations on banks that are flexible (as flexible as banks can be) with their reps and allow them to do fee-based business where the rep selects the investments rather than a third party money manager.

Thanks.

Unless the B/D has a recommended list or individual stock models, I doubt you are going to find many bank management programs that are going to let you run investment models "naked."

For that matter, even a wirehouse will only back your recommendation if it was theirs also.

Bankfc is correct on all counts.

If you have your CIMA or CFA why don’t you become an asset manager & sell your services to reps?

You could try trust departments.
A firm I used to work with had someone doing something
similar for fee-based accounts.

Comerica is the largest bank in Michigan…start pounding on doors.
