Edward Jones or CFP?

Hello to all
Please help. Im 35 years old, 8 month since I came in Canada with my family. I applied for Edward Jones and they offered me a contract as a Financial adviser. At the same time I won a scholarship to study for Certified Financial Planing program. So I have to choose what to do because it will be difficult for me to study and work for Edvard Jones. Im afraid about Edward Jones 3 year contract I new here and if I will not succeed in sales I will not be able to have income. Right now I have an office job that is about 2000 a month but not too many perspectives for advancement.
Thanks to all
neither. way too early to start studying for cfp. and ed jones is a crappy firm.
go work for a wirehouse or bank for a few years. after you have had success then pursue cfp.

Ah, the voice of reason. Good advice, Vin.
You do realize that that even if you pass go through the CFP education and the CFP exam, that it would be a while before you could use your marks as a CFP, right?

Absolutely correct! This is really not an "apples to apples" kind of dilemma here. Why not pursue a career as an FA with a firm (doesn't necessarily have to be Ed Jones), and then take CFP classes and finally the board exam when it's offered. You still need three years experience before you can use the designation.
Again, most FA's pursue the CFP WHILE working for a firm... this is not a full-time MBA program we're talking about.
DaToo’s wife?
Could be, maybe she got sick of being with such a fastidious typer.
Hi thanks for reply. I have to decide now in one week. I can use my scholarship also to study Canadian Securities Course or Mutual Fund or even Immigrant consultant. Edward Jones I applied one month ago now they sent me the contract. Also Im going to take English courses on Saturdays. Also I have a proposal from Primerica. I have to decide now what to take and what to reject. Im afraid of Edward Jones 3 year contract and door knocking activity. Maybe I will study for Immigrant consultant I dont know. I have economics background MBA nurse college etc. I should I do in Canada much money with less effort?
Thanks
VB,
It is ok the idea to work without the best language. I also say not to worry the doorknocking it is hard but the people are nice. They I invite to their house and you go in and they give you the water and then you turn to the investments now when you talk about this you can't be too pushy at first but you tell them "I am here for help and I can help yu" and they understand. You do this the 25 times and you build your business this way and one other thing the doorknocking is good exercise. Using the language of your native country can be imposing to you but I tell you the Americans like to hear the foreign language and go out of their way to help you. I used to drive the taxi in Czech Republic and let me tell you the Czech were not friendly to me but only because I was the Slovak, you see Americans they understand and like the foreign,
