What sites did many of you / do many of you use when just getting started in the business to build lists for cold calling purposes?

There are many lists for purchase or subscription-based sources, but I’m wondering if they’re worth it, or if there is sufficient free information available to make them unnecessary.

I’m trying to target small business owners, and business professionals primarily.  Any help or useful websites will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

State by state chamber directory with business owner names. Also check out www.freeerisa.com for retirement plan info and name of administrators.  https://www.lordabbett.com/us/la2/home/welcome.jsp at one time had a free business directory on their website, call them.     Stok

Thanks, anyone else?

I’ve heard Hoovers is good, but I’m having a hard time searching for targeted individuals, it seems better to use for businesses (and then you have to dig a little on other sites for the business owners’ names).

Also, someone mentioned www.switchboard.com.  Anyone use this?  Doesn’t seem very useful unless you have a last name to go by.

Got 100 Free Leads today from SalesGenie - not impressed.

Thoughts?
