Now on to series 66 in 2 weeks and life ins class in a month.

  They're suggesting that I take life in after series 7 and 66. Is it s pre-req for california? or what would be the reason behind that recommendation?

There is no prerequisite for the CA L&H exam other than the required 40 hours of study + 12 hours of ethics. The reason for the recommendation probably stems from the fact that one must wait 30 days to retake the 66 while the L&H can be taken a second time as soon as an available date is secured. Just a heads up though: once you do pass any insurance license, they WILL dick around 20-30 days to post your license to the DOI site.
