When you think of an options trading scam you generally don't think along the lines of booby-trapped pipe bombs preceded by 18 months of religious death threats, signed “The Bishop.” On April 25, machinist John Tompkins was accused of sending unarmed pipe bombs and threatening letters to investment companies in Denver and Kansas City in an effort to drive up prices on some 200 option contracts he bought. Incidentally, he failed.
