Wachovia has a new regional president of its northeast region: Theresa Roddy, who has been with the firm since 2002 as the Denver complex branch manager. She was previously Morgan Stanley Dean Witter's Chicago complex manager. She replaces Rick Capozzi, who left the firm in March for Merrill Lynch. Wachovia has 10 regional presidents nationwide. Wachovia has a new regional president of its northeast region: Theresa Roddy, who has been with the firm since 2002 as the Denver complex branch manager. She was previously Morgan Stanley Dean Witter's Chicago complex manager. She replaces Rick Capozzi, who left the firm in March for Merrill Lynch. Wachovia has 10 regional presidents nationwide.

Kevin Rowell ⃗ has joined the hard-coming Schwab Institutional group as executive vice president of sales. Rowell previously was the president of Washington-based Safeco Mutual Funds, which was recently sold. Rowell will report directly to Schwab Institutional president Deborah McWhinney. He will be in charge of running the firm's relationships with its advisor firms and national sales force.

In a position created specifically for him, Paul Hatch is taking over as Smith Barney's director of managed accounts. He will be in charge of Smith Barney's consulting group and its portfolio management group, not to mention the firm's entire separately managed account business. Hatch has worked for Smith Barney for more than 20 years, most recently as chief operating officer of the consulting group.

David Capin and his team, the Capin Investment Group, have landed at Morgan Stanley. Capin, who worked for Wachovia and its predecessor, Prudential, from 1995 until late March, was a branch manager at the firm until 2002. The team reportedly has $250 million-plus in client assets and had production around $3 million in 2003. Capin is based in Scranton, Pa.

The new director of business development for The Concord Equity Group is Jerry Taylor. He was previously at First Montauk Securities and will be in charge of expanding the firm's network of fee-based advisors as well as wholesaling money management platforms to various independent and regional broker/dealers.

New York-based C.E. Unterberg, Towbin — an investment bank with a private client services arm — has hired Denise Calvo as a principal in private client services. Calvo comes from Allen & Co., where she was a director of “business organization.” Her career focus has been in equity trading and sales of private placements and public offerings.
