In the Nov. 2003 issue, the story “Playing Hard to Get” stated that A.G. Edwards had “abandoned” its Client Choice initiative. In fact, the plan is being “rethought,” and is still running.
Also in the November issue, in the “Going Independent" supplement, an LPL executive was misquoted in the story, “Are Big Payouts Too Good To Be True?” Bill Dwyer, LPL's executive director of branch development, was quoted as saying: “Sometimes, it's the up-front check that gets them to move here, but they stay…” In fact, LPL does not pay up-front bonuses to advisors who join LPL; the firm has never done so and has no intention of changing the policy. Registered Rep. regrets the error.
