Wirehouse Advisor Returns to Ameriprise After 26 Years

“It’s a different company than the one I left," says Timothy O’Connor, who's joining Ameriprise's independent advisor channel.

Financial advisor Timothy O’Connor, who manages $143 million in client assets, has returned to Ameriprise Financial’s independent channel after 26 years at other brokerages, most recently Wells Fargo Advisors.

O’Connor, based in Huntley, Ill., started his career at Ameriprise in 1987, but left the firm in 1994 seeking greater flexibility. He then went to Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo.

He said he returned to Ameriprise because of the firm’s improvements in technology, research and product platform.

“It’s a different company than the one I left; I now have access to all the same products and services my clients relied on at the wirehouses, plus the digital capabilities and timely market research I need to deliver advice to clients in a collaborative way,” he said in a statement. “My clients have welcomed the transition and appreciate that Ameriprise has built their reputation on integrity and helping people achieve their financial goals.”
