Wilmington Trust Loses Three Regional Heads to Cresset

Michael Mohr, Jack Sawyer and Todd Tautfest are joining Cresset Asset Management in Atlanta.

Cresset Asset Management, a registered investment advisor based in Chicago, announced Tuesday it added Michael Mohr, Jack Sawyer and Todd Tautfest to its advisor workforce. The three advisors join from Wilmington Trust, where, collectively, they served as regional heads.

Sawyer previously served as head of Wilmington Trust’s Southeast region, mainly Georgia. He led services for investment management, family office, planning trusts and private banking. He joins Cresset as managing director.

At Wilmington, Mohr was responsible for managing advisors and investment advisory services for high-net-worth clients. Tautfest worked with endowments, foundations, business owners and HNW clients. Mohr and Tautfest also join as managing directors.

All three will be based in Atlanta.

Cresset manages more than $6 billion in assets under management across seven offices. Last year, it set up shop in San Francisco with the acquisition of a $500 million advisor team, another in Chicago with the acquisition of Evanston Advisors and in West Palm Beach, Fla., with the hire of former U.S. Trust executive Greg Downs. The RIA was founded three years ago, in 2017, by Eric Becker and Avy Stein.
