Colleagues Save Texas Advisor From Heart Attack

LPL advisor EJ Pipkin survived a massive heart attack due to the quick response of his colleagues.

LPL advisor Edward Joseph “EJ” Pipkin Jr. works among heroes. This past summer, Pipkin experienced a heart attack while working out of the Rockwall, Texas, office of the American National Bank of Texas, according to Blue Ribbon News

Amanda Pacheco, Pipkin’s colleague and a loan officer at the bank, saw Pipkin in distress and called for help. The branch’s president of commercial lending, Scott Baker, took action and performed CPR until paramedics arrived to give proper emergency care and take him to the hospital.

“I could tell he was in distress, and it was just instinct to do everything I could to help him,” Baker said. “I’m just glad he was able to make it through and that we could be there for him in that moment.”

Blue Ribbon News reported that Pipkin had major heart surgery but has survived the whole ordeal and is in good health.

“It was God’s plan that put me in that room at that time,” Pacheco said. “If it hadn’t happened the way that it did, he wouldn’t be here with us today.”

Pipkin has been a financial advisor for 15 years. He previously worked for Transamerica Financial Advisors and served 10 years as a senator for the state of Maryland.
