CAPTRUST Expands in North Carolina, Adds HNW Firm

Financial consulting firm Morton Wealth Management is the latest company to join the fee-based advisory firm specializing in endowments, foundations and HNW clients.

CAPTRUST Financial Advisors marked their 30th deal since 2006 with the acquisition of North Carolina-based Morton Wealth Management. Led by Steve Morton, the holistic wealth management team manages more than $400 million in assets for high-net-worth individuals and families. The firm's seven employees in Greensboro includes three advisors.

CAPTRUST now has 159 advisors and 37 locations, managing $278 billion in assets. The firm said the partnership was a testament to the work environment at the RIA. “We’re always seeking firms who are willing to buy into our culture and, most of all, our people,” said the firm’s CEO, J. Fielding Miller. “Steve and his team are an incredible cultural fit, and they bring decades of valuable expertise to our wealth management division.”

Morton cited access to technology and the national RIA’s professional expertise as reasons for the move. CAPTRUST is headquartered in Raleigh, N.C.
