The fourth resaon I quit was very simply recuiting. If this is really a voluntary activity WHY DO YOU KEEP ASKING? Every damn meeting… everything is great big bonus bracket, MF presentation, recruit for a suit. Blah Blah Blah. Any honest Eddie Jones broker will tell you they don’t even bother to meet the new people for at least a year. The whole system is off. You want the person hired for a catagory and to get praise, STL wants a hire and the canidate wants to get hired. When they had Gallop, at least there was a check in place. How many people financial lives have been ruined by the opportunity to open a new business. YES, quit your middle income teacher position with tenior, good benifits and stable income. Get paid to start your own business. You get compensated five ways! If I don’t want to recuit, I should not be pestered to hell over it.

Eddie Jones answers 1. more marketshare means more inventory and respectability in the industry. (still waiting) 2. more marketshare means more syndicate, bonds and stocks. (I don’t really remember any IPO’s. About three times a year a secondary. MDU, AWR, Fartford Ect, but definatly nothing you could build a business around). 3. empty offices are not good for the community. (yes they are, they are good for me) 4. We invested 100k in you (really? 250 hires a month times $100,000 times twelve. 300 mil a year on new hires?) 5. it is better for the firm and your LP. (see part III) 6. Who whould not want to be invited to join the number one company in America?

I understand the need to grow. Every oranization does, “like a tree grow or die” However when the hospital is short of nurses, and they pay signon bonuses and the refering employee get 20k. Every other brokerage firm does this. This is a business, if you want me to do something, PAY ME. Money talks BS walks…

Spell check

Why does EDJ participate in so few IPO’s? IPO’s are fun and exciting, with good comissions to boot.

If you are going to tell someone to use spellcheck shouldn't you first use it yourself?  Commission has two m's.

Like M… M… good!

Are you seriously going to continue with these 10 reasons?  Do you really think anyone cares?  The twisted side of my brain does, but that’s just me.  I’m positive you aren’t going to drop any bombs on us about how Jones does business.  It’s ALL been talked about before.  Over and over and over and over…

I work on a fee basis, so I don’t concern my self with commmi$$$ions.

I like top ten lists!! Keep it up…Spiffy, have you found me an office yet…I’m getting my resume polished up!

Mar 27, 2007 8:41 pm

Yeah, keep going.  Although I don’t care how often they tell me to recruit, some of your other reasons hit home.  Your top ten is one of the few posts I’ve been reading these days.  Since we’ve had a lack of good threads lately.

Mar 27, 2007 8:51 pm

You obviously didn’t read my page 73 and 74 post on the other EDJ thread…I thought it was pretty darn funny…

I was called quarterly on recruiting...but I thought to myself, why would I have someone leave a good position, to work for THE MAN!  Unless you can sell without a conscience (TOM BARTOW quote), you will have a hard time making it at jones. AND..early on (drunk on Koolaid), I couldn't get anyone to sit down and talk about the position..which at the time I thought was rather odd...not now though.

Actually spears I did.  A buddy of mine just jumped to go to Morgan Stanley.  They have an OIT guy in his office right now.  I’ll bet if you call the RL and beg and plead, explaining that you have seen the error of your ways and promise to be a good boy from now on, they might give you a second chance at life.  On second thought, no.  Stay where you are.  I don’t need the dead weight dragging down my LP earnings.

What could those earnings be on 4k of LP…

About $200 bucks!  Not quite lunch money.  Let's call it "dinner money".
