This is it. Wal-Mart and Jones...a perfect fit. J.W. this is your chance to become a rich man. Can't you just see it. A Jones office or two or three in every Wal-Mart and Sam's Club. Man what a plan!!!
We were wondering who would be next....
We would prefer to be associated with Target, thank you very much. They have a more upscale clientele.
Good One Spiff! They do have a better clientele, but a limited selection. Wow! You’re right! It is a better fit.
Yeah…one branch in each department…Yes, Ms Jones, I’m located in the women’s underwear section…yes the black ones…you have those…great…can I put you down for 10 Tuesday or 2 on Thursday?
Ameriprise is thrilled to hear Walmart has entered the space. Now they have someone to look down on. OTOH, Jones guys are worried that they’ll be compromised at their under cover second job once the trading desk opens up next to their greeter’s station…
Personally, I’m looking forward to being stationed in the local Wal-Mart. Lunch with clients at the in house McDonalds (another perfect fit). 20 items or less 401k rollover lines. The grapplin hook game for CD rates. Opening $20 a month systematic purchase plans for all employees (finally, the Wal-Mart market is cornered!). Making the kool-aid aisle Green flavored only. Sitting around with greeters going back and forth about Sam Walton/Ted Jones. Wearing a green, sleeveless vest with smiley faces on it. Rolling back interest rates to 2004 prices, and finally, buying American Funds in bulk at a deep, friendly, discount rate (oh wait, we already do that).
I know we’ve had a little bit of fun at EDJ expense but in all seriousness, this is so stupid. I mentioned it today to a couple of friends of mine and was overheard by other people and the general response was “you’ve got to be kidding me!” The only comment from a local Jones guy was, “Oh great. I just moved into my new office and now I’ll have to move again.”
THe only problem I see is that the clients who flee EDJ to open accounts at Wal Mart will still have to contend with shopping cart dings on their cars while parked in their broker’s parking lot.
Hey, AF’s prospectuses, fact sheets, porfolios, rates-at-a-glance, constant useless mailing info, and .80 cent settlement checks are a lot to carry. Do you suggest that we SHOULDN’T offer our clients shopping carts? Then we might not be #1 in customer service. Sometimes you need to think BH.

No, but I think people need to know that even if moving from EDJ to Wally World is a major uptick, they're still going to have exposure to shopping cart risk, like they have with EDJ.
I think it was a brilliant marketing move on the part of WMT. If they can sell my wife those plastic dog toy looking laundry balls to use in the dryer instead of fabric softerner, surely they can sell your average hoosier some shares of WMT.
Get ready boys, but I think Eddie Jones is about to pull the rug....the old bait-and-switch. Wachovia is in the back door now. The cost of senior leadership at the mothership is going up exponentially! Save yo diversification trip points boys....eddie's fixing to send you on a free ride!!!!!!!
My damn feet hurt,
