Yeah, there are few companies I know of that are more hated than BAC. It is a shame that Merrill is now associated with them (but good for us!)

That's one thing I have noticed.  ACATS from Merrill are unusually large.  Always $1 million plus.

I have had some clients/prospects, as well as friends and acquiantances tell me they will NEVER do business with BAC again.  Usually it has to do with checking accounts, credit cards, mortgages, etc.  Problem is, damn near everything is owned by them now.

Years ago, I had NOTHING with BAC.  I had a checking account with a small local bank in New England.  Got swallowed by Fleet, which got swallowed by BAC.  Now I have a damn BAC checking account.  Used to have a credit card through I-can't-remember-who.  BAC bought them about three years ago.  Voila, now I'm a BAC CCard client.  Our Edward Jones credit cards used to go through FIA card services (they still do).  BAC bought them a year or so ago.  Now my EDJ card is owned by BAC.  Had a Countrywide loan.  BAC.  And my firm-sponsored HSA is through BAC.   So, I never personally CHOSE to use BAC.  But now I have 5 products through them.   I'm just waiting for them to buy American Express and turn my Gold Card into a Red, White, and Blue card.  That would complete me financially.  Actually, me taking a job at Merrill would really nail it.

Amex owns the servicing of your card and it is highly likely that BancofAmerrillWide owns the lending side of your card.    And now with 6 products, you are considered a very sticky (stuck?) customer.  Kinda like stepping in quicksand, or pluff mud if you live in my area. And YA'LL know what pluff mud smells like.

The shitty thing is that how BAC started as a company is really a cool story.  Now it is what it is.  I have one of my mortgages through BAC, 2 credit cards, and both checking and savings.  I actually haven’t had a problem…knock on wood.
I would, on the other hand, like some of those BAC/MER ACAT’s though…
