Now that the protocol issue is settled, how will this affect the date you leave the firm?  We were discussing this yesterday in our office. Do we sign the transition deal, let management relax, then focus on moving when we have time to organise (thanksgiving, for example) as opposed to next Friday.  After all, we could just give the money back to MER and leave when it is advantageous for us.

  Thoughts?

December is a tough time to go, plus, you’re just getting set up as the clients get 2 tax reporting stmts, etc.

Good Point.  Plus there will be some vesting of FCCAP.  I have never moved before.  What is the best time to move?

  Opinions?

We moved almost exactly this time last year.  No problem on the tax issue.  Most clients didn’t even think about it, so it wasn’t an inhibiting issue with anyone.  Realistically, for you guys that are just now getting in serious go mode, you probably won’t be ready to pull the trigger until early Dec., and your ACATs won’t be settling after that until almost right at the end of the year.  We’re talking nickels and dimes, so no big deal.  That was our experience.  That should be the most minor of your concerns.
