Are any of the wirehouses(former wirehouse), or regionals still hiring?

Just want to get off this stupid idea that, people can start indy with no book, experience, licenses, but want a salary...

Maybe they can read this instead

Raymond James Associates just told me no more training classes this FY (thru Oct 09) and no schedule yet for next FY either.

WS/Wells Fargo HR rep called me to inquire about my interviews but no one has talked about availability of training classes. Smith Barney is close to an offer and said they have classes but much less than last year.

Smith Barney is about to be gone

I think there might be an opening at Wu Tang Financial when all the dust settles...         http://www.comedycentral.com/videos/index.jhtml?videoId=11887&title=wu-tang-financial "Smith Barney? Bunch of bitches... Old time farts."

Ameriprise is, but more of a focus on TCC (Targeted Career Changers) vs. fresh kids. They’re also paying quite a bit more for TCC hires than the old traditional green hires I understand. Steered a former bank manager friend over there and the package is not bad at all for a guy who’s earned a decent living for many years.  Basically looking more for candidates who bring larger personal networks, business contacts, etc and have had to earn a buck a few years or more.

A local bank?

SB, assuming it is around in its current form past the weekend, is hiring. But limited, and only hiring for teams, not solo trainees.

Unreal.  Raymond James Associates stopped my interview process because of no training dates.  I’m well into the interview process with Citi Smith Barney and now I find out they may not exist Monday.  I’ve had interviews with Wachovia Securities and now with the Wells Fargo take over that option seems to be stalled.

Does anyone have the number to that trucking company...Truck Masters I think they are called...

Call me at Waddell & Reed. I think you would be very interested in hearing what we have to offer. We are ahead of the curve on the ‘hybrid’ approach and we have the scale to support you. … unless  you really want to be a door knocker or telemarketer.

Surely you jest!   Does anybody do any gross at that firm? Seriously!

If your question is- do you have unreasonable min. requirements shoved down your throat and you get canned if you barely miss your mark?-- then the answer is 'no'.

Great comeback, does the W&R offer come with a years supply of brown bags for lunch?

I 'met' with W&R 2 years ago at the behest of a recruiter who swore the firm was one I 'should' be talking to. I asked a simple question. What is the AVERAGE production of your top 25% nationally. Next question.. what is the lowest producer doing in the top 25%.  They dodged and spun and would not give it up. Is it that bad? I hear the median is near $150k. I did know a guy who claimed he was the top in the Southwest doing $211k in 07'.   Do be forthright and tell us.

Odd, I didn’t think you were even currently licensed.

The person you spoke with more than likely didn't have it memorized what the national figures are and was probably caught off guard. Also, we operate on 2 different platforms, and yes, on one of them the minimum is $15mm AUM or $150k GDC.      To give further clarification with a specific scenario; you could qualify for certain perks, awards and various other benefits starting @ $105k GDC and up. (in some cases maybe even less) So to answer your question, 'is that bad?' I say, 'no', it is quite the contrary. How many producers would enjoy such benefits and recognition elsewhere?   Top producers would start at the $580k GDC + mark. But then of course that depends on if we are referring to an individual or a team.   We are able to accomodate the full spectrum.     May I ask why you speak with such bitterness? I find it off-putting and unprofessional so pardon me if I choose to not respond any further.
