I’m a fairly new rep too, but I don’t like it at all. Why would they consider establishing a business relationship with you based on this script alone? I know I wouldn’t. Besides, you didn’t even say why you could add value to their situation. You mentioned “wealth mgmt firm” but after that long sentence, people are not likely to remember that part. I’m working on product based scripts. I think that you (and I) would be better served selling product than solutions. As new reps, people are going to see right through us if we try to come across as experts and have tons of experience. Keep it simple, ask for interest in a product. No interest? Move on, but don’t trash the number. Again, I’m no expert at this

This is Jon Doe (pause) blank NY how are you! This is the first time we have spoken, the reason for the call is I believe I can be of value to you, just giving you a heads up I am sending you my business card, to but most importantly contact you back at some point down the road when my company isolates something I believe will merit your attention, OK. Do you prefer email or regular mail? Hope this is better any suggestions.

M/M I have a ABC school district/hospital/sewer system bond paying 6 & 1/2 % TAX-FREE. Selling in Increments of 50, but speculating they won't last long.

Would you want to secure 50 or 100 today? (said not in an assuming manner but as in a genuine question)

If you're lucky enough to find somebody that's been thinking of moving 50-250k to some bonds or better yields etc recently, you'll likely be writing a ticket that day. Dials increases the odds of finding mr. sounds good.

hey...NewRep....you're joking ...right? A week ago...you're moaning about the move.....then this....what.????..you get paid to send out information???? There's nothing in your approach that says who you are...what you do and benefits....benefits......nada. Even sounds evasive and dodgy.......

Sounds like a case of....not wanting to take it head on........avoiding the no's..........just sending out information........ avoidance behaviour writen all over it.......try this for size.......don't invent anything. Don't even think you are anywhere ready to put pen to paper and come up with THE OPENER.....don't......just grab anyone of the " I got a bond.......pays X%...ya want some" pitches from this valuable, time proven, asset generating, carear building resource your on now.......and say THAT pitch to 50 people a day , for the next month........can you do that.....for you....for your family........wake up pal.

All The Way

All the way, I can do that just fine I just don’t think I can to be honest with you.  From what I have been told by my boss is I need to gather leads first, learn a product and pitch it to them.  Also when I listen to the other guys on the phone all they pitch are stocks, I have never heard anyone pitch anything else. So again I don’t know what I can and can not do, and as stupid as this sound I don’t even know if this place has bonds.

The few guys that I do talk to here all say that the products they sell they find on there own, the firm doesn’t provide any recommendations. I will ask the manager again but the last time I asked what I can pitch all he said was find a company I like, that I believe in and learn it, in and out. Pitch that to the leads that I get.  I have read posts on here that other firms have an inventory of bonds from which to choose from, I do have access to anything like that.

Sht pitching a bond at the open like you and others have said makes a lot of sense to me but once again I don’t know what I am allowed to and not to do.  Trust me when I say this I don’t try to reinvent the wheel if, it’s not broke do fix it.  Look if I sound like I am bitching and moaning that is not my intention, I am truly fucking lost and all I am trying to do is find my way.  Thanks for your ideas and recommendations, I will find out more today and keep you posted on what I find out.  And as far as rejection goes, it doesnt bother me I have been married for 8yrs going on 9, I get rejected a lot lol. Happy holidays much success to all.

perfect attitude.....find out what you can do, and that should help give clarity to your efforts....also, I beleive that you will do well as you come across as truly wanting to make a good run at this. i will keep following your progress, so keep posting and keep working. Keep it simple and repeatable, the results soon follow.

Of course you can. It doesn't have to be a municipal bond, any fixed income will work, High Yield Muni Mutual fund, high yielding preferred stock, corporate bond... the point is to call and either sell the product or pique their interest enough to talk further. As opposed to what you layed out regarding adding value and sending out business cards.
