I tried a search on this and did not find exactly what I was looking for. I am readjusting my cold calling scripts and plan. I feel I have put together pretty solid opening that sparks interest and is customized to audience that I am calling. In the past I have gone straight for asking for the appointment. It has created some success, but I am determined to create more efficiency. I am thinking about simply asking permission to send them information on our market research in their sector hoping to slowly build relationship and trust before asking for appointment.

Let me know your thoughts on this strategy or any other cold calling techniques that will allow me just to keep talking to the contact.

Some quick background, I am 3rd year in the business. Work for Morgan Stanley. I mostly prospect professional engineers as I have a common background. Cold calling currently creates about 30% of my business.

I really appreciate any advice, its all welcomed. Thanks in advance.

You should learn to disqualify people sooner. People are screwed up in general, and that is what makes cold calling hard. You have to get to the people who get it...and believe me there are very few who do.
