The 500 day war has mentioned to call business owners.  I have been calling more residential since my area is more concentrated with retirees.  But I would be interested to hear everyones experience with business owners and how to build those lists.  What is your script?  How do you build lists?  What kinds of business owners are the best ones to call?  Any insights from the trenches is greatly appreciated.

Yellow Pages. Open and dial.

You can get lists that will narrow it down for you if you want. I usually use revenue and employees.

Freeerisa.com is also a great tool to find the businesses you want to work with.

If you use Lord Abbett, they’ve got a great tool as well…but it’s a great way to get the name exactly of who you want to be calling.

Thanks guys. Follow up question…what is your approach? Product, 2nd opinion, etc? What is the best way to get appointments in your experience?

Many different routes you can go with B owners. Pick what you want and stick with it, perfect it.

You can go with a comprehensive approach, but typically, it’s easier to have an niche that you know in and out. You don’t want to promise to be their all around guy if you can’t provide the ins and outs of an exit strategy for example.
