"Friend, you cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. And what one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government can’t give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody. And when half of the people get the idea they don’t have to work because the other half’s going to take care of them, and when the other half get the idea it does no good to work because somebody’s going to get what I work for. That, dear friend, is about the end of any nation." - Dr. Rogers, 1984

“Taxes are the price we pay for a civilized society” Oliver Wendell Holmes…

Try North Africa or Venezuela if you don't like paying taxes... After all Hugo can't be that bad..

By the way taxes used to be like 60-90% way back when… I don’t think anyone pays above 30% now with all the deductions…

So, you hate golf and don't mind taxes.

Pretty Much… I do mind taxes but I balanced that against living somewhere else(and having my clients follow me)…

At least, you must be a movie buff. Caddy Shack is the movie I like to live. I never hated taxes until I started this business, and had to actually write the checks to Uncle Sam myself. Now it's easy to hate taxes, and be inspired by the likes of Geitner.

[/quote]   On this you and I can agree.  One thing these tea parties are doing is unmasking more and more media bias.  Some of the coverage I saw was just embarrassing...on both sides, but particularly pathetic was CNN's coverage...   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMKX3X4lIaE&feature=related   Waaaaaaahhh!  Fox News is beating my ratings...waaaaaahhhhh!!!  What a liberal hack she is...gee Susan, can you be a bit more obvious about your left-leaning bias?

Haha, Indy. CNN defending the status quo. “Sir, Illinois is getting fifty billion out of this, what is the problem?”. Of course Fox has an agenda, so what? Passive news reporting went the way of Walter Cronkite - I watch BBC and read WSJ for news. People are pissed. Huh, must have something to do with being robbed or their money … Honest Abe is rolling in his grave.

Love the BBC. American 'news television' should be embarrassed, they left the zip code of fair journalism a long time ago.

Sophistic Obama:   When Obama and tax collectors meet, they wink at each other.   Under an Obama presidency the IRS will be more diligent about detecting red flags, like leftover money in your bank account after you pay your taxes.   It's a  funny thing about socialists; give one an inch and the next thing you know he'll be president.

If by somewhere else you mean France, England, Italy, or Spain, if Obama and his crew continue unchecked all that we'll be missing to make the transition is the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, the Vatican, and the running of the bulls.   Other than the window dressing we'll become a socialist (more accurately a fascist) nation just like those.    I was watching Dennis Miller on O'Reilly last night and Dennis said that he's OK with helping the helpless but he doesn't care about the clueless.  That line has a lot of truth in it.  We're spending billions of dollars, with trillions more on the way, for a lot of clueless people and a lot of the helpless are being left in the dust.

Clueless people like to get paid for screwing around. ( Actually,  I do too.) The whole media thing (Fox included) , the dumbing down of America and the repression of God (and her inalienable rights), is about getting paid for doing nothing. At least Fox is on the right side, and they are trying to do something construcive. I’ll put money on that CNN lady reporter getting pissed off at the guy with the kid in Chicago " this is not family fare, I’m handing it back to you, anchor desk". I’m buying VDE. Anyone know how I can bet on the CNN lady and the Tea Party?
