I am about to fire my current cell phone company and move my business. Here’s what I need:

-Need a PDA/Smartphone. Have never used a Blackberry, though know people that love it. I don't like the internet browsing on them. I frequently go to JonesLink from my phone (which I believe requires Internet Explorer). -Customer service is important. I hate talking to some mouthbreather in Appalachia or 15 year old in Mumbai to get simple issues fixed.   What do you guys/gals love or hate?

Can you tell us about your current service?  I am looking at getting a Smartphone as well, and am trying to find out the best service and phone.

I currently use Sprint and have been happy (been with them about 10 years).

I used a blackberry curve 8330 w/ Verizon.  To me, it's the best business phone on the planet and perhaps the toughest.  I've dropped it dozens of times and it still works like a champ.  Key board is sweet, speaker phone good, and internet quick enough.  If I had to do it over I would use Sprint with their 99 universal plan - however we are still fighting about $6 from 5 years ago.

... oh, and what the hell is a mouthbreather?

I currently use Sprint and have been happy (been with them about 10 years).
I use Sprint and hate them with a passion. Been there about 8 years. I have a Motorola Q9c. The internet browser freezes on my constantly forcing me to have to either restart my phone or pull the battery out. If the phone falls from more than 2 feet high onto anything other than a soft mattress it will develop a big blown pixel spot on the screen which will block out at least 5-10% of the viewing area. I have had to have three phones replaced because of this.   The last time I called the conversation with some window-licker went a little like this (after being redirected to 10 different people):   Me: Hello, I need you to send me another phone. The pixels are blown again.   Sprint: Ok, that will be $100.   Me: No it won't. I bought the "insurance", for which I pay $8 a month. I haven't needed a phone replaced in over a year (by the grace of God). By my math, that means I will pay more to have you send me a poorly refurbished phone than to buy a new one.   Sprint: Well, that's why you buy insurance, like when you buy car insurance.   Me: No, it's not. People buy insurance so that they can spread the cost of risk around a large pool of people. I don't pay $3000 a month for car insurance so that if I total my $30,000 car they can just give me my money back. That's not insurance, that's called escrow.   Sprint:   Me: So, again, I am not paying $100.   Sprint: Well, you do have an option to upgrade your phone for free! Then you don't have to pay for a new phone...   Me: Wrong again @$$hole. I hate you people. It is not free for me to get some other sh*tty phone and have to call you morons every 6 months because there is a problem with my phone or my billing, or because although you claim that there is wonderful service in my area I have to drive a couple blocks from my house or office just to use my cell phone and be locked into another 2 year contract. So, for a third time, you are going to send me another poorly refurbished phone, and I am not paying for it.   Sprint: Well, we don't guarantee coverage inside of buildings, so it is not a problem with the service.   Me: I don't live in a government bunker under a mountain. I live in a standard house that is made of wood. Everyone I know that uses another cell company has reception in my house, and in my office except me and my wife. So, it's your problem, not my house. This is the last time I ask before I go all Ted Kazinski on you. Send me a damn poorly refurbished phone  that will surely break next time I set it down on my dining room table that I can't use in my house or office while I wait out my existing 2 year contract.   Sprint: Please hold...   Anyway, so you can see I am not a big S fan...
I have a similar experience, except the exact opposite.  I have the Curve with Verizon as well.  I love Verizon and don't think I'll ever switch, but I hate the damn Blackberry.  I hate having to lock the keyboard everytime I'm not using it because when I put it in my pocket I end up butt-dialing someone every time.  When I'm sitting in my car and feel my phone vibrate, it takes the jaws of life to pull it out of my pocket in time to answer it because its so bulky.  I hate that Brickbreaker is the only game that comes on it, although the first 2 months I had it I couldn't stop playing the game.  Also, I've only dropped it a couple of times and there's a small crack on the screen (This came from when it literally jumped out of my hand as I was in an elevator, I was SOOO pissed), and for no real reason at all the little button on the back of it towards the bottom fell off so the plastic battery protector is just sorta sliding around.  I will say though that the apps are really easy to use, and it only took a few days until I was able to get anywhere I wanted on the phone in 2 or 3 seconds.  Hope you enjoyed my novel.

I got rid of my Samsung Blackjack and went old school back to a Razor that I had. I just got tired of the hassle, I have At & T service.

AT&T - iPhone 3GS

New Blackberry's work with Joneslink now.

Verizon=best customer service... This is a stat brought out through customer polling.  I heard this on Clark Howard.  HOWEVER this is like winning a gold medal in the Special Olympics, not a cool brag.  "Hello and welcome to Verizon, we're the best of the worst!"

i think your phone just sucks… I have the blackberry curve with Sprint and it works fine and my plan is cheaper then verizon and att.

Wouldn’t get the iphone, cost $$$ just to change the battery(which only lasts 1 yr).

Verizon (in my area) has FAR superior service regarding client satisfaction as well as reception.  My father had a Blackberry with Nextel (now sprint) some time ago and he could barely get service at his office, and only sometimes on the road!  Granted it depends on the area you are in, but he would never go back to them.  My cousin bought an Iphone and had to get rid of it because of reception in our area.  I don’t really get it though, we are not in the mountains, I’m in a city!

Agreed.  There's nothing like being able to look up my best client's phone number while posting on Facebook and listening to the latest Marc Cohn album all at the same time.  On your phone.  I've been with Cingular/AT&T for years and have had zero issues.

Who is Marc Cohn?

I hate trying to type on an iPhone. They’re great for the apps though.

Cohn is the Edward Jones segment three motivator.  His latest album is “People WANT you on their doorsteps on holidays and weekends.” It’s his first release since “give them the Hamburger.”  He’s hoping that it will be as popular as his smash “put 'em in a muni bond, you can’t hurt 'em.”

Who is Marc Cohn?
The only song that you might recognize is Walking in Memphis from about 1988.  You might have heard "True Companion" at a wedding, but not known he was the guy singing.  He's kind of a cross between The Counting Crows and James Taylor.  Amazon groups him with guys like Bruce Hornsby, Shawn Mullins, and Chris Isaak.

Don’t forget he is married to Elizabeth Vargas or Varges or something…from ABC News…and oh yeah, he was shot in the head a few years ago during a robbery attempt…Blackberry Curve.

So, are you a fan?  Ever seen him live?  He doesn’t come my area very often, but I caught him last summer in Columbia, MO.  The amount of music three guys can make on stage is amazing.
