Will you still use AIG products?

I’m a little surprised the media hasn’t written about how much of an impact all of this negative PR AIG has received will have on their future sales.
I’m curious, do you: (A) plan on still using AIG products, or (B) will never sell another AIG product again?
Pretend you used to work for a company called VALIC.
Imagine going through the last 6 months with the name “AIG RETIREMENT” plastered on the top left hand corner of all of your client statements.
After that, tell me that you’ll use anything ever associated with AIG again.
(We all know that most subsidiary AIG businesses will be fine, but they will ALL change their names in the next year.)

Be Nice Ice… Here in Canada I would give AIG the credit they deserve. ZERO , NOTTA or COMMENT.
On a serious note , given the obvious downside that they still have , my understanding is another Trillion Dollars that they have yet to find and confirm .....want to bet their will be another " hands out " play coming to a tax payer near you. On the plus side perhaps a quiet executive retreat for the clowns ( ooops ) I meant executives to spend money and scheme as to how they can continue on the " nut " for another year or two.The United States government owns nearly 80% of AIG, so of course there will be another bailout. What I’d like to know is how much our taxes will decrease when AIG returns to profitability. Certainly, since we the people bought and paid for it, the Congress will bust a gut to get our money back to us.
Right?
F*ck VALIC, AIG Retirement, and the horse they rode in on. They can change the name all they want; they’re still a bunch of dirty s.o.b.'s in my book.
That’s been my experience trying to process a recent transfer. First one in a while and it’s just like the hell I went through last time…
Although AIG’s insurance side is fine, I can’t imagine mentioning their name to a client and being serious about it. “Let’s see…Met, NM, JNL, Hartford, Lincoln, Hanc***, AXA…forget all of them Mr. Client, let’s go with AIG!”
"Mr. B24, are you serious?" Their Sun America platform has already dropped the AIG name completely. But I would feel dishonest NOT telling a client that they are a division of AIG. Can't imagine a conversation when they found out. They will either have to change their name or go the way of Enron.
Hehe. Ok then....

I started this thread because I was curious if AIG had a chance of surviving. After reading the responses, I’d guess that chance is virtually nil, no matter how much money is thrown at it. Let’s see, they’ve got:
1) Congress pissed at them (i.e., no more easy money);
2) the President bad-talking them on Leno (i.e., no Democrat will buy their products);
3) no indy that will touch them (i.e., no future annuity or life business).
Count in the huge current populist disgust with them, and that’s more than three strikes.
I know a colleague on the East coast who has worked for VALIC (aka AIG Retirement) for 15 years. About 2 weeks ago, he went outside to the front of the office on his lunch break, got the ladder out of his truck, set it up outside the front door, climbed up and ripped off the AIG portion (AIG VALIC…now VALIC, once again).
His DM didn’t even say a word to him…
Trust me, the AIG name is dead.
