I was wondering if I should take the series 66 on my own because I just found out that you do not need a sponsor to take the series 66 and if I pass the 66 on my own maybe it will give me a better chance to get a job as an FA. Any thoughts?

I know the you have to take the 7 which you need a sponsor and then take the 66 to be registered.

I think taking the 66 on your own would increase your chances of getting a job.

You’re right you don’t need a sponsor for it, but like you said you do need the Series 7 in order to get it. So I don’t understand what you’re asking? It’s like you’re trying to do things backwards.

I took my Series 7 passed, but then I left my firm before I even took the Series 66. But because I had the 7 I could walk in right off the street to take it firm or no firm. You have no choice but to take the 7 first.

Unless you already have your Series 7, I can’t tell by the way you worded your post.
