The rich are favoured by republicans, and more money should go to the people who deserve it,.....you know.....Poor lazy people. I was reading an article (sparked by the Katrina tragedy), on how we as a country don't provide enough to the poor..???, and why do the wealthy get tax breaks????

First of all, as most know, the top 5% income earner (those who make about $100,000 or more) - account for 55% of the nations tax bill. If your a guy who is fortunate enough to make $250,000, you are on the hook for somewhere around $80,000 in federal taxes!!!!! What does this guy get for his $80,000, that a guy who makes $20,000 (who probably won't even have a tax bill when all is said and done) does'nt get? NOT A THING.  If some one is going to get tax relief, which one of these two guys shoud benefit. I mean c'mon.....how do pople not see this.

You can see where this ties in to Katrina. There are about what...300,000 people who are displaced from Louisiana. A LARGE population of who I am guessing, have been supplemented for years. It is a good bet that there will be improvements to their lives over the next several years. (I am not unsympathetic to those who have lost family, but their is a bigger problem brewing) we do know that there will be a huge fallout from this, and the government will throw tons of dough at the victims. People who have been rewarded for working "the system", will now play on the sympathies of anyone with a voice.

This pisses taxpayers off to no end. And to listen to people bitch, and finger point with one hand, while the other hand is waiting for a check, kinda makes me want to vomit.

As foreign a concept as it may be to some, there is "WORK" involved behind the scenes of organizing an effort to rescue that many people from a difficult environment. Sad and tragic as it is, nobody intentionally ignored the situation. These people have to be fed, and educated, and put in dry safe surroundings. Communities cannot just absorb thousands of people who are not contributing.

And if I hear the rantings of one more hollywood type, I am going to scream!! It must be nice to work 3 months out of the year,(at a job where you are pampered and catered to, all the while trying to memorize some dialogue, and collect millions for it) and then tell other people how to live a more philanthropic, meaningful existance. I myself, would be down helping the Katrina victims too, but I just can't peel away from my career, where I make in a year what one of these starletts spent on there last trip to Barney's. And.... I just don't need the PR!

Successful folks in this business do the same thing.  Of course, I am sure that you had a point somewhere in your post.  Unfortunately I couldn't find it.  Hopefully it made you feel good.

Yeah…I do feel better! I have been known to stray,…just a little.

Sep 8, 2005 11:23 pm

Did you see Move On.Org Now protesters in front of the White House?

Amazing, given it was the mayor of New Orleans who didnt follow through on the emergency plan.  How about all those school buses sitting under water that could have been used to get people out of town.  I don't care for either party however it is times like this when the Democrats tend to make real asses out of themselfs.

They just look like a bunch of loosers.  Always complaining, always looking for someone to blame.

I'm guessing the point of the OP is that the leeches who contribute nothing to society are getting all the handouts and media sympathy while the hard working stiffs and self employed entrepeneurs get the sharp end of the stick up the you know what.  And to the resident knee jerk bigot (who shall remain nameless menotellname),this has nothing to do with race.  Those I'm talking about are of all races, so get over it.

If you really get down to it everybody lost something, but the people who lost the most (the homes they worked for for years and generations, the businesses they built, the possessions that they aquired and probably still owe money on) are not getting any real help or attention from the government and least of all from the media.  It is a much better sob story to show some fat assed welfare broad with 5 homeless children, or some alcoholic diabetic amputee than it is to discuss the guy who lost the mechanic shop his father started 50 years ago.  Much more fun to whine about the "poor" people who lost their dvd players and Nikes than the people who lost historic Ante-bellum irreplacable homes.

It isn't the rich who suck.  It's the bleeding heart left wing media that slants everything with a class warfare tilt that sucks.

There, I feel much better now.

Good conversation.  Could not agree more.

In the words of Popeye, "I've had all I can stand and I can't stand no more!"

I got in this business over six years ago and for the life of me, I cannot understand why any of you people who buy into this socialist redistribution of wealth undertake this profession. How on earth do you rail against the capitalist system that is making you wealthy? If you think there should be more money in the hands of those who WON'T help themselves, then by all means, write out a check and shut up! If you think social security is fine by itself then get out of this business now. Why don't you do this for free? You would get such a charge out of it and you would never gain weight eating your principles.

Sorry, but as for me, I still get mad when the jerk in front of me at the grocer is paying for their six cases of soda, twelve bags of chips, and 4 cases of Twinkie cakes with their little state funded debit card (thank you Slick Willie, it sure makes me feel better that these folks aren't embarassed by using food stamps anymore) and ringing out a separate CA$H transaction for two cartons of smokes! Excuse me you knucklehead, I need to get back to work so I can pay more taxes to reload your card!

I agree with babbling looney!

Speaking for myself (not inferring BL agrees with me), I AM tired of
how certain ethnic group “leaders” made prominent by the media (for
which intelligence or morality isn’t a requirement) in this country act
and react in sitations like this.  I actually used to like Kanye
West.  I thought he might actually be a positive voice that blacks
could respect and respond to, but…he just turned out to be a younger
version of Jesse Jackson with more bling.

What a racist.

Blacks (and middle easterners, by the way) are very racist,
segregationist groups. Disagree?  The “leaders” in the black
community cry out the loudest, all the while intentionally widening the
gap by words and actions.

Until the black community finds more role models to look up to who
aren’t entertainers and athletes, it will not change.  If you
think I’m wrong…tell me, who are all the role models these days for
young black Americans?

Sep 9, 2005 2:25 am

Bill Cosby, Barak Obama, Condoleeza Rice, Maya Angelou, Colin Powell, and yes, unfortuately, P-Diddy Combs, Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston.

Sep 9, 2005 11:51 am

Barak Obama? He wouldn’t be where he is today were it not for affirmative action. That’s how he attended Harvard.

Sep 9, 2005 3:48 pm

WOW!!!!!

first of all, Babbling looney - right on, I thought I was the only one who felt that way.

Frustrated40%er...................you do know how to read????? You should re visit my comments, they are clearly in defense of capitalism. "The rich suck" comment was a joke, and I think the next paragraph of how the tax dollars of the 5% top income earners of the population cover 55% of taxes raised kinda identified that. I really don't know how my words got lost in interpretation????

Sep 9, 2005 6:33 pm

UPDATED: The rich are republicans, and more money should go to the people who deserve it,.....you know.....white trash and black lazy people.(in the mind of the wealthy libs and poor/Gore voters)

HELLL YEAH!!! I am not in the top 50% of income, but I completely agree with everything posted!!!

The black leaders like Jackson and Sharpton make millions off of the race card. They love to get the poor blacks/trash whites/old people fired up. Jackson actually blasted Bush for not having anyone black in control of New Orleans. Idiot forgot Gen Horne is black. Actually he is a kick ass American, but bigot Jackson (after visiting communist leader Chaves) had to bring race into the equation.

Everyone here is on the same page... So no reason to explain anything.

Isn't it great to see what happens after nearly a half century of Democratic rule in New Orleans and Louisana.  What do you have?

Dependent people everywhere.  Lack everywhere.  Grown adults who cannot care for themselfs.  People who wont leave with a category 5 hurricane bearing down on them because they have to stick around for the beginning of the month for their wealfare checks!  You have adults who cannot see all the opportunity around for them because they have been so stunted by lifetimes and generations of government dependence.  They look like little children on the TV crying about not being taken care of and looking for who in the government to blame.  It is as if they are not responsible for themselfs.  Amazing.

And finally, you have ramport corruption at the state, city and local levels.  Big government at its best.

Money -

Forgive me if you feel I was blasting you. I had been bouncing between this and other threads and had just gotten a snootfull of menotellname and VotedForKerry on another one and kinda shot before aiming.

That said...all of THOSE people that are liberal kooks should get involved in government where there ineptness will be appreciated, expected, respected, and glorified.

Sep 10, 2005 3:43 am

Any of you tough guys spend any time working with the poor, the sick, and the desperate?

Sep 10, 2005 4:57 am

I for one have spent a ton of time working for the mentally challenged. They deserve some help and dont request recial and welfare assistance!

Billy bob what have you done with the poor?

I have friends in Beloxi that dont have a flooded house. They have a foundation where everything is gone!!!!!!!! DO you get it man?

There is more then the government telling idiots who collect their entire life to get out and those who have a flooded house. There are thousands who only have a foundation!!!! Screw the bs estimate of 10000 dead.. That was a slam to BUSH, the black hater. Yeah right! Wake up!

On top of that I am going to New Orleans to help this weekend!

K...how do middle easterners fit in? Because last time I checked it was the white man who was randomly beating up american arabs on the street soon after 9/11.

Let me guess, what you see on TV is what you get in reality?
