Here’s the brief:
I have a client group with a VERY large portfolio of commercial real estate.  They are considering forming a REIT, and asked if I could point them in the right direction.
Do any of you guys have any idea where they should start?  How about any of you RIAs, do any of you actually do this type of consulting work?  Either way, PM me and let me know…if it’s something you do, I can send some business your way.  Any help or insight is appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Boy that is a head scratcher.  I don’t recall where you are, but why not ask your Investment Bankers?  If you get them the account, they may let you join the next squash tornament.

ICE,

Here's what you do....identify the biggest LOCAL real estate partnerships/REIT's in your area (think hotel companies, strip malls, etc. - big office buildings and warehouses will probably be nationally owned).  Call their office and ask them who they use for council.  If they are big enough to have in-house council, talk to them.  Ask who their outside attorneys are that set up their partnerships/REIT's.  Call that attorney(s) and talk to him.  You never know where it may lead.  Playing matchmaker is never a bad thing for your career.

Don't listen to B24 - go straight to your Investment Bankers so you can get a cut of the action.
