when you guys/gals transfer in a sizable account consisting of 100% individual equities, do you have the client liquidate to cash all positions you will NOT be keeping, or do you wait until the account is in your “office/hands?”  i have only done 1 or 2 of these, and am curious how everyone else handles the situation.

Bring it in, then liquidate.

Always transfer in kind.  Do you trust others to do your work for you?

You can control the asset allocation - to - market volatility better if transfer in kind. Of course, funds take at least a day to settle, another reason to use ETFs or stocks.
