Has anyone studied NLP to use as a persuasive selling technique? I've been reading up on it a little and am going to a seminar about it. Some of the stories people tell are really convincing about building rapport very quickly and getting people to imagine the positive values of what you are offering so that they will buy.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming. It’s a fancy way of describing the correct verbage, pitch, and pace needed to better connect with clients and prospects.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming It's actually a very subtle form of hypnosis. You get people to imagine what you want them to, whether it's the benefits of your product, you in the sack, etc. and then sealing the deal by asking a question like, "What can we do right now to get that?". B24, I swear by some of this stuff I've read...it's worth the time to google it.What is NLP?
It only works if the prospect is standing in a pentagram of crystals, while ingesting snake oil and tonic elixirs.
And once again, you wet the blanket. Some of you guys are nuts. You bash things you've never learned about and haven't tried. Feeble minded people. It only works if the prospect is standing in a pentagram of crystals, while ingesting snake oil and tonic elixirs.

I am very doubtful that it will work.[quote=Wet_Blanket]It only works if the prospect is standing in a pentagram of crystals, while ingesting snake oil and tonic elixirs.

It's reinforcing positive thoughts to lead people to the self-realization that they will want the solution you propose by linking your product back to their values. A lot of people in sales already use techniques like this and don't even realize they're doing it. If you've ever had a client imagine a situation, get them to see exactly what they want, show your value and your solution's value, and linking it back to what they want, it's a form of NLP.[quote=snaggletooth][quote=Wet_Blanket]It only works if the prospect is standing in a pentagram of crystals, while ingesting snake oil and tonic elixirs.

Sales = the ethical manipulation of a prospect to do what they know and you know, is right for them.[quote=snaggletooth][quote=Wet_Blanket]It only works if the prospect is standing in a pentagram of crystals, while ingesting snake oil and tonic elixirs.
For a taste of some NLP, look into Derren Brown. He supposedly uses NLP along with some other stuff. Here’s a couple of clips of him "working (warning: these videos are addictive):

If it was really possible to program someone else, than Eddie Jones would have programed me to sell more door-to-door American Funds…

It only works if subliminally your wife actually wants to do what you are proposing.
“So, was that a NO, or was that a MAYBE I’ll think about it? So ‘no chance’ is what you’re saying? Just a backrub??”
