Losing a good client b/c my firm is not on Deloitte's approved brokerage list.  Sucks.

Any idea how to get on that approved list ?

Ever happened to anyone else ?  (sure it has).

You mean your client has to move his account to another broker because you aren't on some sort of list they made up?

Sorry, I've never had that happen to me.  Actually, I've never even heard of it.  I would understand if you client went to work for a school district and your company wasn't on their approved vendor list, but to tell a corporate employee that he can't work with you because you work at Ameriprise, for example, seems a bit controlling.

Is there a list somewhere or is it a closely guarded Deloitte secret?  Do employees get a discount or preferred services for using the vendors on the list?

No.  He lost the acocunt because his firm wasn't on the approved list of brokers of the ACCOUNTING firm.
