I work for noone

O.k. here it goes. I guess I come from a pretty priviledged background, in that I have no debts including my home thanks to my parents. I don't think my managers knows much about my background.
I get an email to attend a stupid bank function that I decline, and don't care to attend. I'm already turned off to the BAC's bs. He says to call him if I cannot attend, I say I'm not calling or atttending, if I don't want to go I won't go. I work for myself, not you. What do I do?
I don't mean to sound flippant ez, but if the sender of the e-mail is your supervisor, I'd dust off my resume if I were you.
From what I'm hearing and reading about BAC, this might not be a bad thing. Call a few of the local wires and indys and see what's up.

What does this have to do with anything?? If you're saying "you don't need the money" then fine...quit if you want. I didn't exactly grow up a pauper myself, but I find the actual work and the competition among FC's (both in my bank and friends at other firms) to be what keeps me going.

Why wouldn't you call? That's just polite. Sounds like he simply asked for an RSVP, and it wasn't required.
You sound like you have a little bit of a chip on your shoulder with BAC...true or no?

no I already declined. it sounds to me as if he’s pushing a little power play on me, of which based on my circumstances he’s picking on the wrong person, as I don’t give a sh!t.

Courtesy is just never out of place.
To whom much is given, much is expected.
Yikes, this is a service/sales job. I just laugh all the way to the bank.
