Big day on Friday

I've been in a lull the last few months, and then on Friday I hit a couple of big (for me) tickets and had a couple of other things finally close that have been hanging out there for a while. Bottom line, it was a $20,000 day (GDC), which is a huge day for me. I still probably won't have a best month ever (is that a Jones thing or do other people look at that?), but it is nice to finally have one of those days where everything you touch seems to turn to gold.
I know that it doesn't matter to anyone but me. But I've been in a funk the last couple of months wondering what I was doing differently that was causing business to slow down. I guess I'm still adjusting to the huge variations from month to month. I've been slowly adding to my fee business, but I'm still probably 70%+ commission based. Hopefully in the future, 1) I will have enough in fees that I won't worry about what came in this month, and 2) I'll get my head around the fact that in the short run, my income is not based on how hard or smart I am working.Amen to the big day for anyone comment. EDJ keep your head up. Many of us have the same lulls as you do. It’s an uphill battle until you get to the top, whenever that may be for you. Keep pushing.
Heck I was feeling good that my two-week run was at $22K net and then you had to blow me out of the water like that! Congratulations…that is a great day in my world. I also felt like I was in a funk the last couple of months…the whole month of January was less than $20K. Recently, however, I’ve been seeing things start to pick up…hope it’s a sign of things to come for all of us…
Unfortunately, I'm still under the $150,000 for 2007, as I have to share my commissions, unlike many of you. Still, it was a great year for me (not many $20,000 days, but most months). Thanks to all for the positive feedback.Congratulations!… Hmmmm, another name to take off the tax rebate list.
36k in Jan.
I could say very bad month, however I was out of the office for 3 weeks. For me, now I'm in a funk. Biz is slow, but that's something I've been through many times. Just no motivation. The market is up, the market is down, who gives a sh*t. Ok, it will pass. Thanks for listeningSounds like a lot of us get discouraged and business slows during the rough market months. Interesting to me, being relatively young in the business. Makes sense, and I too have had less motivation the past 2 months. It’s actually encouraging to me to know it’s normal and not to be too worried about it.
