Averages Questions

If someone is in LOS 4 what do you think the average AUM and trailing 12 months should be in the industry?
At LOS 4, the average industry wide, in my opinion, should be about $275K gross and $20-25MM in AUM… Just throwing it out there.
Average is $275k on 25mm AUM. That means that they have a ROA of higher than 1%.

That's not unreasonable if there's lots of new money coming in. If your AUM is stagnant, you're going to raise some compliance eyebrows.
One big question....Are you annuitizing?? Not many people I know will hit 200,000 in year 4 when everything they do is at 1%.
I think if you are consistantly bringing in 200,000 - $300,000 in new money per month you are doing great. I think the 20-25 million is a little aggressive, more like 15-20, unless you are being fed accounts. but first 4 years in are very difficult.
Gross production, I don't think matters at this stage.
hmmmm....by year 4 you should be doing at least 750m/yr on 100m in assets........
I am loving life these days. This month, I have brought in $350,000, and got in front of another $480,000 between two accounts that is likely to come over...all in cash! I know this isn't all the money in the world, but it's a whole lot better than smiling and dailing at ML.
What are some of you all at the bank doing as far as some "out of the box" activities with your branches?
Also, is anybody else using the Accessor funds? I have been using there allocation funds quite a bit. Any opinions? You can check them out at Accessor.com. I think they're pretty similar to what IXIS does, but I just prefer them. Any feedback is appreciated.
I just transferred some in this month. Seems like decent performance but from what I saw, short track records.

100mm in assets? Are you on crack? So that's 25mm a year in new assets. only place you can do that is in California or NYC or be from a select pedigree of connected people. I am none of the above.
[/quote]According to the ML Managing Director I interviewed with, you need $25MM during your first two years.
Ha ha ha ha ah ......oh my.....That number keeps going up and up and up.
In reality.....telling a new broker that they should have 25 mil after 2 years in the business, is like telling a client to expect 65% annual returns.
"Geeez, I can't understand why new people in the business can't make it" Let's see, it would not have anything to do with managers extremely unrealistic goals and promises...would it.
$25mm in 2 years. Good luck. Nearly impossible unless you know ALOT of wealthy people.
I had a (ML) manger tell me the same thing about bringing in 25 million in 2 years, "oh yea, anyone with your skill set should be focusing on numbers like that"
But....Mr. manager, our top producer who has like...$400 million under mngmt, and makes a mil ayear, (with a team of 8 seasoned FA's) who has been here for 16 years, and probably has some great contacts and referral base, only brought in 8 million in new assets last year. and,.. and,.. you want me to focus on beating him by 50%. So when I only bring in 4 million, am I supposed to feel like a complete loser. .......I can see how this would be motivating!!!
