Asset allocation software
4 RepliesJump to last post
Does anyone have any experience with any of the following; Allocation Master, Cheshire or ICE Advisory World?
Just looking for opinions on asset allocation software that's out there and what is considered to be among the best. Thanks.
They all suck…I’ve seen a model that is fully invested in just two of the top
categories…based on relative strength and rebalanced every two weeks.
This model outperforms everything I’ve seen to date.
54% iShares Small-Cap Index (IWM) 01/30/06 5.47%
46% iShares Small-Cap Value (IJS) 02/27/06 4.79%

Are you looking for optimization software? Or, just something that will
run risk analysis and give you a suggested allocation?
If you are looking for a Monte Carlo sim, you can also go with
Morningstar Workstation - From what I’ve found, ‘workstation’ can allow
you to build portfolio models, conduct risk assessments, needs analysis
and monte carlo simulation on one platform. Optimization is not a part
of the platform unless you work at Ameriprise (choke!). Don’t expect it to
be a financial planning program, and don’t expect it to be an estate
planning program. But, as an allocation piece of software, it’s excellent.
The ability to tie together managed account analysis, mutual fund
information, and stock holdings on one analytics package makes it a
strong performer for those looking for asset allocation information.

Do you just buy the two IShares inside a fee based account...? I would think compliance would be all over you versus doing it in a transactional account (which would make you no money).
