Dillon say today to goose Buckeye Technologies (BKI:NYSE)? Oh my G-d, the last time I saw an upgrade juice something that well was the Henry Blodget days.

FD: not over here to hype up BKI or solicit CitiGroup research.

I don't follow it, but a quick look at my screen says that it was upgraded from a sell to a buy--which is a hell of a upgrade.

It also only regained what it lost yesterday--it's essentially unch from Wednesday's close.

That 5 day chart does look like hell. Chip's an honest and usually on the money analyst. I respect him for what it's worth. I have made nice money in the past with him.

Thanks for the comment. That sector had a few others that saw some nice upside action today, too:

Greif (GEF)---upgraded earlier in the week

Rock-Tenn (RKT)---no upgrade, just piggyback pump action I surmise.

Wow that's really insightful.  Do you have any more pearls of wisdom to share?

Can't we all just get along?

Chip Dillon is respected by institutional money managers. He's known as "the ax" when it comes to his sector (paper and forest products). Yes, one can make money if one follows his research.

The one and only other time I had nice things to say on this chat board about a SELL side analyst was almost a year ago when I said Don Carson of Mother MERrill made a nice call on POT(ash):

http://finance.yahoo.com/bc?s=POT&t=1y

For the rookies on this chat board and the non equity (stocks) types, an "ax" is an analyst whose BUY recs go up fast and whose SELL recs take major dumps.

Typically I don't put too much credence into what most SELL side analysts have to say because too many are still afraid to say SELL at the top. Most have no problems saying BUY or STRONG BUY too late in the game at the behest of their investment bankers.

When an "ax" says SELL, there's usually very little upside left. Ditto on when an "ax" says BUY, bottom's usually in or very close to in.

FD: this is not a solicitation to keep smoking POT!

I guess I smoked too much POT last night (it's that time of year as in concert season):

Bravo, Don Carson, bravo!

Apologies for the typo in the previous post (time to put those bifocals back on).

Smoking is necessary foy men .though it is bad for our health.
