Fixed income markets have bounced back in 2023 after one of the most challenging years on record in 2022. Where will markets go from here and how should advisors be thinking about the increasing number of opportunities in fixed income?

Nicholas Godec, head of fixed income tradables at S&P Dow Jones Indices, sits down with Mark Bruno, managing director of Wealth Management, Informa Connect, to offer a review of the first half of 2023 and a look ahead to the second half of the year. Specifically, Nicholas and Mark discuss:

  • The most significant challenges and opportunities in fixed income year to date — and the biggest opportunities in H2 2023
  • How the evolution of the ETF industry optimized access to the fixed income markets
  • A large portion of ETF usage has been driven by institutional investors, so how will financial advisors follow in their footsteps?
  • In 2022, clearly the 60/40 portfolio offered little protection and we have seen more advisors exploring alternative investments than ever before. What is the role of the 60/40 portfolio in today’s market? More specifically, how should financial advisors be rethinking the 40%?
