The ETF industry is growing bigger, and more mature, says Dan Corcoran, CEO of Volos Portfolio Solutions, at the 2020 Inside ETFs conference.
"I think a lot of people feel pretty good about how the ETF industry has evolved," he said. "Especially from an advisor perspective, it's much more cost effective and transparent and universally better."
Corcoran, who started the company, an index provider to the ETF industry and asset managers specifically servicing options strategies, while he was still in college in Boston six years ago, said options strategies were traditionally used only the institutional side via the over-the-counter markets. But now that they've moved to the listed markets, advisors have access to these strategies via ETFs.
"Being able to trade options on them in a liquid format and really have control over the process really helps their clients meet their end needs, mostly downside protection and hedging as well as income," he said. "It's been a great period to service advisors who are using ETF options with our software and our model portfolios that track strategies in this space that they can implement."
